SF Giants probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. San Diego Padres, September 8
The SF Giants took the second game of the series by a score of 6-3 on Saturday night. Spencer Bivens will take the mound for San Francisco in Sunday's rubber match as the Giants look to secure a series win.
SF Giants probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. San Diego Padres, September 8
Whether he has a good start or not, this has been a very successful year for Bivens. He originally signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2022 after spending years in Independent Ball. The righty pitcher did not have a draft pedigree in his favor, so he had to impress at every stop.
Bivens has posted a 2.86 ERA with 24 strikeouts against eight walks in 34.2 frames for San Francisco this season. He attacks the strike zone well, but that has also led to a high home run rate. Bivens will be making the second start of his career. In his first start, he allowed one earned run in five innings against a strong Los Angeles Dodgers lineup in a 10-4 win.
Who is hot?
Grant McCray had himself a day on Saturday night. He blasted two home runs and recorded five RBI to lead the Giants to victory. He drove in all six runs for San Francisco, but one of those came on a double play, so he does not get credit for the RBI.
Who are the SF Giants facing?
The Giants will be facing off against veteran pitcher Joe Musgrove. This has been a down year for Musgrove as he has posted a 4.09 ERA 15 starts for San Diego. The righty pitched has tallied a 4.03 ERA in 14 career starts against the Giants.
