The Giants are an inconsistent club and nothing highlights that better than scoring 13 runs against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday followed by being shut out in two straight games. The last time the Giants scored a run was in the bottom of the eighth inning with a position player, Jake Bauers, on the mound.

Black faced the San Diego Padres in his last outing and he allowed four earned runs in 4.2 innings in a 5-1 loss. Much of the damage came in the first inning and he finished on a better note, but it was a rough start overall. On the year, he has a 7.50 ERA in six appearances with San Francisco.

Who is hot?

Patrick Bailey has been in the midst of a brutal and prolonged slump, but it looks like he is turning the corner. He recorded two hits, including a double, in Friday's 5-0 loss to the Padres. It was his fourth multi-hit effort in 11 games this month with four of those games coming as a defensive replacement late in the game.

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Giants are facing off against veteran hurler Joe Musgrove. Musgrove has a 4.54 ERA in 16 starts this season. In his most recent outing, he allowed six earned runs in 4.1 innings against the Giants in a 7-6 loss.
