The SF Giants took the first game of the series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night thanks to a thrilling, walk-off home run by Patrick Bailey. They will look to Jordan Hicks on Saturday to keep the momentum going.

There is no doubt that Logan Webb is the ace of the rotation at this point. He has a 2.33 ERA through his first six starts. On the other hand, Hicks has helped Webb to anchor the front end of the rotation.

The right-handed hurler has a 1.61 ERA through five starts. He yielded just one earned run while completing five innings in a 5-3 loss against the Arizona Diamondbacks in his last time out. Oddly, he walked four batters and did not tally a strikeout.

Who it hot?

Patrick Bailey was the hero on Friday, continuing a very strong start for the second-year catcher. He has posted an .880 OPS with three home runs and 10 RBI in 75 plate appearances in 2024. Plus, he has shown improved control of the strike zone with a 10.7 percent walk rate against a 24.0 percent strikeout rate.

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Giants will face Martín Pérez on Saturday night. He has a 3.45 ERA in five starts on the season. Pérez throws from the left side, so the Giants will feature a lineup that will include a lot of right-handed bats.
