At 15-19, the SF Giants are beginning to dig themselves into a hole. They can get out of it, but they do need to prove that they can beat good teams on the road. They will look to Logan Webb to help salvage the series against the Philadelphia Phillies.
SF Giants probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Philadelphia Phillies, May 5
The Giants gave Friday night's game away due to some sloppy defense, but they lost on Saturday in a more typical way. The Phillies were the better team.
Webb is looking to get back on track after having an unusually poor start against the Boston Red Sox earlier this week. He yielded four earned runs in 3.2 while struggling with his command.
The right-handed hurler is still off to a solid start, posting a 2.98 ERA 2.80 FIP, 1.29 WHIP, 6.4 K/9, and a 3.00 SO/W ratio through seven starts. This includes a 60.4 percent ground ball rate.
Who it hot?
The Giants offense is in the midst of a cold spell, so there are not too many options. Wilmer Flores blasted his first home run of the year on Saturday and he has tallied a hit in four of his last five games.
Who are the SF Giants facing?
The Phillies will hand the ball to Taijuan Walker. Walker battled a shoulder ailment that has kept him on the injured list for much of the season. He returned in late April, making one appearance where he yielded six earned runs in 6.1 frames.
