The SF Giants look to enter the All-Star break on a positive note. They won the first game of the series against the Minnesota Twins on Friday night by a score of 7-1. San Francisco will send out young pitcher Hayden Birdsong to try and nab the series win.

SF Giants probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Minnesota Twins, July 13

In his first three starts, Birdsong has posted a 4.40 ERA with 15 strikeouts against seven walks in 14.1 frames. He has allowed three home runs as well. It is difficult to evaluate a pitcher after just three starts, but he has shown the ability to get major league hitters to swing and miss.

Improving his control will be the next step in his development. Birdsong features a mid-90's fastball with a curveball, slider, and changeup. The fastball, curveball, and slider all have above-average movement. It will all be about how consistently he can hit his locations.

Who it hot?

Brett Wisely was the player of the game on Friday night. He tallied three hits, including a double and triple, with two RBI in three at-bats. His production had begun to slide, but he still has a respectable .758 OPS with three home runs in 150 plate appearances.

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Giants are facing off against Simeon Woods Richardson. Woods Richardson is in the midst of a solid 2024 campaign as he has posted a 3.48 ERA in 15 starts. The Giants have never faced him and that usually presents a challenge for the lineup.
