SF Giants probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Milwaukee Brewers, September 12
The SF Giants had an offensive outburst on Wednesday night to even the series at one. They hope to keep the bats hot with rookie pitcher Hayden Birdsong taking the hill.
SF Giants probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Milwaukee Brewers, September 12
Birdsong was originally slated to start the first game of the series, but they pushed back his start in an effort to control his workload. Landen Roupp filled in nicely, limiting a tough Milwaukee Brewers lineup to just two runs in five innings. It is fair to say that Roupp earned another start after that on.
On the other hand, the Giants hope that Birdsong can finish the year on a high note. The rookie pitcher had some promising outings when he was first called up, but he has battled control issues over the past few starts. Overall, he has posted a 5.19 ERA with 64 strikeouts and 35 walks in 52 frames with San Francisco.
Who is hot?
Matt Chapman blasted his 24th home run of the season on Wednesday. That swing of the bat extended his hit streak to 10 games. During that stretch, he has 13 hits, including three home runs, and nine RBI in 38 at-bats.
Who are the SF Giants facing?
The Giants will be facing off against veteran pitcher Frankie Montas. Montas has tallied a 4.69 ERA in 26 starts split between the Cincinnati Reds and Brewers. The righty pitcher has registered a 3.24 ERA in three career starts against San Francisco.
