The SF Giants dropped the second game of the series against the Miami Marlins by a score of 4-3 on Saturday night. They will lean on Logan Webb to help them clinch the series victory with a win on Sunday.

SF Giants probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Miami Marlins, September 1

The Giants recalled pitcher Mason Black ahead of Saturday's game. It was a soft landing spot against a below-average Marlins lineup. That said, the rookie pitcher had his best outing as he allowed two earned runs in five innings. The one blemish was a two-run homer to Griffin Conine on a four-seam fastball that hit its location. It was a good swing of the bat by Conine. Despite the loss, it was a promising start for Black.

On the other hand, Webb is looking to finish the year on a high note as he will likely earn some Cy Young votes after a strong 2024 campaign. He has posted a 3.24 ERA in 28 starts for the Giants this season.

Who is hot?

Jerar Encarnación continues to make a strong first impression with the Giants. The right-handed bat collected two hits in four at-bats on Saturday. He has tallied 15 hits, including two home runs, in 58 at-bats since the Giants called him up in August.

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Giants are facing off against Darren McCaughan. McCaughan has an 8.62 ERA with eight strikeouts and nine walks in 15.2 innings this season. He does not strike out a lot of hitters and has a high walk rate, so the Giants will need to be patient at the plate. This will be McCaughan's first career appearance against San Francisco.
