The SF Giants dropped the second game of the series against the Miami Marlins. Though, they still have a chance to win the series with Keaton Winn taking the mound.

SF Giants probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Miami Marlins, April 17

The 4-14 Marlins have not yet won a series in 2024 and the Giants hope that trend continues. The offense has not found its groove, but LaMonte Wade Jr. and Michael Conforto have been some of the top performers for the team in the early going.

If the Giants want to muster more offense out of the lineup, then moving Wade Jr. to the outfield while Mike Yastrzemski and Austin Slater struggle makes sense. Plus, this would allow Wilmer Flores to get into the lineup with a bit more regularity.

Keaton Winn is looking for his first win of the season. His 5.06 ERA through three starts may not show it, but the 27-year-old pitcher has thrown the ball well. His 3.91 FIP suggests that he has been the victim of some bad luck.

However, he has induced a ground ball in 59.1 percent of batted ball events, which is well above the league average rate of 42.9 percent. The Giants hope that Winn can find a way to tally a few more strikeouts.

Trevor Rogers will be opposing Winn on the mound. The lefty pitcher missed much of last season with a biceps and lat strain. He has recorded a 4.80 in three outings with the Marlins in 2024.
