The SF Giants took the first game of the series against the Kansas City Royals thanks to a quality outing from rookie pitcher Mason Black. They will now lean on another rookie in Landen Roupp for the second game of the series.

Roupp has been shuttled back and forth between Sacramento and did spend some time on the injured list earlier this year. That said, he is making a positive impression on the coaching staff and will finish the year in the rotation. That may end up only being two more starts, including today, at this point.

The righty pitcher has posted a 3.02 ERA with 40 strikeouts, 21 walks, and only one home run allowed in 41.2 innings with San Francisco this year. Since moving to the rotation, he has allowed just two earned runs across 14 innings while showing improved control.

Who is hot?

Heliot Ramos recorded three legs of the cycle in Friday's 2-1 win over the Royals. The only hit he was missing was a home run. The 2024 All-Star has slumped in the second half of the season but he has tallied at least one hit in six of his last seven games. During that stretch, he has registered eight hits, including a home run, with three RBI in 25 at-bats.

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Giants will be facing off against Brady Singer. The 27-year-old hurler is in the midst of a solid 2024 campaign where he has posted a 3.53 ERA in 30 starts for Kansas City. He has pitched to a 5.73 ERA in two career starts against San Francisco.
