The SF Giants took the first game of the series against the Houston Astros by a score of 4-3 on Monday night. They will look to clinch the series win with Jordan Hicks on the mound.
SF Giants probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Houston Astros, June 11
Hicks is pitching like an All-Star in his first full season as a starter. The hard-throwing hurler has a 2.82 ERA, 3.81 FIP, 1.19 WHIP, 7.9 K/9, and a 2.57 SO/W ratio through 13 starts. This includes a 54.2 percent ground ball rate.
Hicks will face off against a struggling Astros club. Houston has a 30-36 overall record while sitting in third place in the AL West. They have dealt with a number of injuries including Kyle Tucker, José Urquidy, and Cristian Javier. In fairness, the Giants have dealt with a litany of injuries as well.
Who it hot?
Wilmer Flores' bat started to heat up over the past week. He has six hits, including three home runs, in his last 19 at-bats. Despite the slow start, the veteran bat is just one year removed from hitting 23 home runs with an .863 OPS in 454 plate appearances.
Who are the SF Giants facing?
The Giants are facing off against Ronel Blanco. It has been a breakout campaign for the 30-year-old pitcher as he has tallied a 2.78 ERA 11 starts. He did throw a no-hitter earlier this year and has been suspended after it was discovered that he had a foreign substance on his glove during a game against the Oakland A's in May.
