The SF Giants split the series against the Oakland A's over the weekend. They will now turn their attention to the Chicago White Sox with Kyle Harrison taking the hill.

The is a pretty critical series for the Giants. The White Sox are the worst team in baseball, so the Giants need to bank some wins before September. After this series, this schedule becomes more difficult with only one soft spot remaining for the rest of the year. That soft spot is a series against the Miami Marlins. After that, the Giants face off exclusively against playoff-caliber teams.

Similar to Hayden Birdsong, Harrison has hit a bit of a rough patch. That is part of the development process and the Giants hope that he can respond similar to how Birdsong did over the weekend. Overall, Harrison has posted a 4.14 ERA in 21 starts with San Francisco this season. He yielded three earned runs in five frames against the Atlanta Braves in his last time out.

Who it hot?

Jerar Encarnación saved the day for the Giants on Sunday after blasting a two-run home to give them a 3-1 lead over the A's. Michael Conforto followed with a solo shot as well. Encarnación had slumped in recent games, but recorded two hits in a 4-2 win over the A's on Sunday. He hits the ball hard, but will need to get more lift from his swing to do damage.

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Giants are facing off against rookie pitcher Jonathan Cannon. Cannon has tallied a 4.02 ERA in 15 appearances with Chicago. He does not strike out many batters (6.1 K/9), so there should be a lot of balls in play. Of course, the Giants have never faced off against the 24-year-old pitcher, so that presents a challenge for this lineup.
