The SF Giants dropped the first two games of the series against the Boston Red Sox. They hope that 22-year-old lefty Kyle Harrison can help them salvage the series.

SF Giants probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Boston Red Sox, May 2

Harrison is coming off of his best start of the year. He recorded six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and no walks in a 3-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. To some extent, it had been a weird start for him due to the high usage of his four-seam fastball.

While the four-seam fastball is his best pitch, Harrison has flashed a slurvy slider in the past. He did so during his stint with the Giants last year but had rarely used it until his start against the Pirates. That seemed to pair dividends.

On the year, the lefty pitcher has a 4.09 ERA with 31 strikeouts against five walks in 33.0 innings. He has been a bit too prone to the long ball as he focuses on pitching more consistently in the strike zone.

Who it hot?

The Giants have scored just 13 runs over the last six games, so not many of their hitters are hot. They are waiting on the new additions like Matt Chapman to get going. Chapman has not performed well, but he does have a hit in each of his last three games.

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Giants will be facing off against Josh Winckowski. He has a 3.50 ERA in nine appearances, so the Red Sox will likely go with a bullpen game of sorts. Winckowski has done well to prevent runs, but he has pitched with plenty of traffic on the bases.
