The SF Giants dropped another close game on Tuesday night as the bats have gone silent.
Robbie Ray will take the slab to get the Giants back in the win column.
SF Giants probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Atlanta Braves, August 14
After winning three straight series, the Giants have dropped the first two games against the Braves. They still have a chance to split the series, but this is the wrong time for them to hit a skid as they continue to struggle to get stay above .500.
Ray has certainly looked good for someone coming off of major surgery. In many cases, pitchers do not regain their old form until a year after they return to the mound. The 2021 AL Cy Young winner looks to be an exception as he has posted a 3.98 ERA with 28 strikeouts against nine walks in 20.1 frames. The long ball is something to monitor as he had allowed five home runs.
Who it hot?
Tyler Fitzgerald did not record a hit on Monday night, but he made up for it on Tuesday by blasting his 13th home run of the season. Since the start of August, the rookie infielder has tallied 16 hits, including four home runs, in 51 at-bats. He has put pressure on the opposing defense with five stolen bases in five opportunities as well.
Who are the SF Giants facing?
The Giants are facing off against 28-year-old rookie pitcher Grant Holmes. Holmes has a 3.79 ERA in 13 appearances for the Braves in 2024. He has not thrown more than five innings in a game, so there is a good chance that the Giants get to the bullpen early.
