At a minimum, the SF Giants will split the series against the Arizona Diamondbacks after taking the third game of the series by a score of 7-3. They will turn to Jordan Hicks to help notch a second straight series victory on Sunday.

Hicks has been the Giants' best starter in the early going. He has a 1.57 ERA, 3.14 FIP, 0.91 WHIP, 7.0 K/9, and a 3.00 SO/W ratio through four starts. Perhaps, the most surprising quality of his performance has been his ability to stay in the strike zone. Hicks has walked six batters in 23 innings so far, which is much lower than his career rate of 4.7 BB/9.

A noticeable change in Hicks' arsenal this season has been the sinker velocity. His sinker has typically reached triple digits out of the bullpen, but throwing that hard as a starter is not necessarily sustainable. Plus, pulling back on his sinker has likely made the pitch easier to command.

In Saturday's win, Patrick Bailey recorded four hits, including three extra-base hits, while collecting three RBI. It was just the second four-hit game of his career. He is quietly off to a very nice start, posting .957 OPS with two home runs and seven RBI in 59 plate appearances.

The Giants were originally scheduled to face off against Merrill Kelly, but he has been scratched. Slade Cecconi will start in his place. He has a 4.33 ERA in his career.
