SF Giants linked to outfielder tearing it up in Mexican league
The Giants may sign an outfielder soon.
The SF Giants are in desperate need of outfielders after a flurry of injuries. They may turn to a player currently tearing it up in the Mexican League to address this need. That player is former Marlin Jerar Encarnación.

The Giants are down several outfielders right now. Austin Slater, Jung Hoo Lee, Jorge Soler, and Michael Conforto all find themselves on the IL. Lee is the only one that figures to spend a long time on the IL, but they still have a need for outfielders at the Triple-A level as well as the majors.
That is why it makes a lot of sense that the Giants are linked to Encarnación. This linkage was reported by Mike Rodriguez on X. However, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reported that a deal between both sides is far from a sure thing as Encarnación has also received interest from teams in Asia.
So far in the Mexican League, the right-handed corner outfielder and first baseman is slashing .381/.459/1.036 with 18 home runs and 35 RBI in just 24 games. Those are impressive numbers no matter where you are putting them. up.
He only has limited MLB experience. He appeared in 23 games for the 2022 Miami Marlins and slashed .182/.210/.338 with 3 home runs and 14 RBI.
The Giants would most likely sign him on a minor league deal and would call him up as injury necessitates or if he continued to hit so well and forced them to call him up. They could certainly use a guy. with some pop in his bat to inject some life into a woefully inconsistent lineup.
Again, the two sides have merely been linked and there is nothing set in stone. But it makes a lot of sense that the Giants would be interested in the 26 year old given all of their injuries.
