While many fans just wish that they had a broadcast team that knew how to pronounce all the players' names on their roster, San Francisco Giants fans have been spoiled to have Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow in the broadcast booth. "Kruk and Kuip" have been synonymous with Giants broadcasts for decades and the combination of crisp game calling, humor, and depth of their coverage has made them beloved by Giants fans.
Therefore, it is no surprise that when Awful Announcing brought back their vote to rank all of the broadcast booth around baseball, the Giants' booth was voted as the best one in all of baseball.
The Giants' Kuiper and Krukow are in a class of their own
In fairness to the entire broadcast team, Awful Announcing made sure to also mention the talents of Dave Flemming, Shawn Estes, Javier Lopez, and Hunter Pence when giving the crown to the Giants' broadcast. The broadcast booth has a bit of a dynasty in that vote as they have been voted the best broadcast booth four times in the six polls that have been done. As it turns out, having a booth that actually likes the game of baseball as it is and calls games like it engenders a fair amount of good will with baseball fans.
The Mets booth of Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez, and Ron Darling finished in second place, although we will have to see how the vote shakes out next year once the dumpster fire that is the 2023 Mets season comes to an end. The Padres, Blue Jays, and Dodgers booths rounded out the top five.
As for the...less loved broadcast booths in the league, there are some familiar faces with the Cardinals, Rockies, Nationals, Athletics, and Tigers making up the bottom of the rankings. Who would have thought that adding Chip Caray to the Cardinals' broadcast wouldn't immediately pay dividends? Wait....everyone thought that.
