The 2024 MLB draft begins later today and runs through Tuesday. The SF Giants will have a relatively quick evening as they hold the No. 13 pick and then they do not pick again until the second day of the draft.

SF Giants 2024 MLB Draft guide: How to watch, schedule, order

The draft is one of the many events that kicks off the All-Star week. The first two rounds take place on Sunday, followed by the next eight rounds on Monday, and ending with the final 10 rounds on Tuesday.

The Giants have the fifth-lowest bonus pool in this year's draft. This is due to them signing Matt Chapman and Blake Snell this winter, resulting in the loss of their second and third-round picks. Both Chapman and Snell rejected a qualifying offer from the Toronto Blue Jays and San Diego Padres, respectively.

While the Giants only have a bonus pool of $7.5 million, they can exceed that amount by five percent without impacting future draft picks. They have often flirted with that five-percent threshold over the past few years.

The first 10 rounds have assigned slot values for each pick that make up each team's bonus pool. However, teams can sign players after the 10th round for up to $150,000 without it counting against their bonus pool. Anything above that does factor into the bonus pool.

How to watch?

On Sunday, the draft is covered on the MLB Network, MLB.TV, MLB.com and on the MLB app. It can be viewed on MLB.Com on Monday and Tuesday.

Of course, if you do not have time to watch the draft as many do not, we will be providing round-by-round analysis for the Giants over the next few days.

What is the schedule?

The draft begins today at 4 P.M. PST. In the first round, teams have up to five minutes to make a pick. The length of time for each pick is reduced to four minutes in the second round and is only one minute for every round thereafter.
