The Giants offense couldn't get going against the Braves in the series opener, losing 4-0 as the team clings to a Wild Card spot.
San Francisco will look to even the series against the best team in the National League with its ace on the mound in Logan Webb. Webb is a Cy Young contender that can bolster his case by shutting down the vaunted Atlanta lineup, can he do it?
Let's dive into the odds and handicap this matchup:
Giants vs. Braves odds, run line and total
Giants vs. Braves prediction and pick
Webb is one of the few pitchers I believe can handle this Braves lineup, striking out nearly nine batters per nine innings while walking fewer than two. Overall, his 3.26 is amongst the NL leaders. Of course, Atlanta has a loaded offense that is tops in the big leagues in OPS, but Webb's ability to maintain pinpoint control can limit the explosiveness of this lineup, allowing less than one home run per nine innings.
However, the Giants struggling offense is going to hold this team back. The team has the lowest OPS in the big leagues this month and is hitting only .209 as a unit. While the Braves are going with a bullpen game of sorts with Yonny Chirinos, this Giants offense can't be trusted against anybody.
Yes, the Braves offense is always tough to fade, but I think Webb is up to the task and I'll go with the under as my favorite bet in this matchup.
