The Giants and Astros finish a three game series on Wednedsay afternoon at Minute Maid Park.

San Francisco will hope that starter Logan Webb can get on the winning side of things after a concerning 1-5 start despite pitching pretty well. The Giants bullpen has been a massive concern for the team early on and the offense is hit or miss, but it has actually outpaced the World Series champions Houston Astros thus far.

Can Webb lead the Giants to a win on Wednesday afternoon? Let's see if the price is worth a shot on San Fran:

Giants vs. Astros prediction and pick

Webb's 1-5 record is a bit misleading. He has a 4.10 ERA, which is worse than his past two seasons, but he's striking out more than 10 batters per nine innings and walking just over one batter, career bests in both categories.

He's been strong, despite the Giants faults as a sub-.500 team through about 30 games this season. Webb will face an Astros lineup that isn't as vaunted as many would think, 19th in wRC+ and hitting .247 as a group. I believe that he can string together a quality start on Wednesday afternoon against a team that is rock solid across the board, but haven't been excelling at the dish.

On the other side, Framber Valdez toes the rubber for the defending champs. He's a workhorse that has faced the most batters in the big leagues so far this season after doing the same last season. However, he is a regression candidate with a 2.54 ERA supported by a 3.60 Fielding Independent Pitching (FIP). That means that the Astros defense has bailed out Valdez so far this season. The Giants offense is better than the Astros this season, 13th in wRC+ and top 10 in slugging percentage.

The Giants bullpen that ranks bottom five in ERA scares me, but I can't look past San Fran in hopes of catching some regression with Valdez.
