Former SF Giants 3rd base coach roasts critics after singing National Anthem
Tim Flannery does not suffer fools lightly.
Former SF Giants third base coach Tim Flannery is never afraid to speak his mind. After he performed the National Anthem at a Padres game recently, he clapped back at critics of him who disagree with his political views.
Former SF Giants 3rd base coach roasts critics after singing National Anthem
Flannery was at the San Diego Padres game to honor members of the 1984 Padres team that made it to the World Series. Flannery was part of that team and he sang the National Anthem before the game. It is a lovely rendition you can watch here.
It makes sense that Flannery sang the National Anthem because he has a musical background and has really focused on his music career after he stepped down as third base coach for the Giants after the 2014 season.
You can view the post where he takes aim at his critics here. Basically, Flannery just says that he loves his country and that patriotism or the American flag do not belong to one political party. The full quote of his post on X is: "I sang the National Anthem from my soul the other day because I love my Country. Some folks started following me and found out I don’t support trump and started their anger on me. FYI, You don’t get to own the flag or the Country. This land was made for you and me."
Flannery had to battle a very serious staph infection several years ago which hospitalized him and threatened his life. It is awesome to see that he is doing much better these days and is well enough to share his musical talents with everyone.
Giants fans will remember that Flannery was the 3rd base coach for all 3 of the team's World Series championships. He was always fun to watch when he would send players home and perhaps his most memorable moment in that role was when he literally almost beat Angel Pagan to the plate on his memorable walk off inside the park home run back in 2013.
Flannery will always hold a special place in the hearts of Giants fans. It is great to see him healthy and enjoying music and great to see that he is still unafraid to speak his mind and give hard truths in his post-coaching career.
