The SF Giants have a record of 53-55 heading into tomorrow's 3pm PST trade deadline. It is not clear whether they will buy, sell, or stand pat. If they do sell, these 3 players are not as safe as they think and could be dealt by tomorrow afternoon.

3 SF Giants players who aren't as safe as they think ahead of MLB trade deadline

The Giants just swept the Colorado Rockies to give themselves a bit of momentum. They currently sit at 53-55 and are within a couple games of the final Wild Card spot for the playoffs. It does not feel like they are going to sell, although some believe they will.

However, the front office may view the situation differently. They may not view the 4-game sweep of the Rockies as all that impressive because the Rockies are one of the worst teams in baseball. They may feel that this team simply does not have enough pieces to make the postseason and may be compelled to sell.

In that event, there are some obvious names who could be on the way out like Blake Snell. But if the team opts for a more comprehensive sale, then there are several players who may feel like there is no chance they get traded who may be on the way out the door.

Let's take a look at these three players:

1. SP Logan Webb

Logan Webb has been the ace of the starting rotation for several years now. He just made his first All-Star Game this year and is having another solid season even though he has had some struggles recently.

Webb has good reason to feel safe because he has been so consistent for the team, is a leader on the team, and is under contract for several more years.

However, the Giants may reason that with the emergence of young pitchers like Kyle Harrison and Hayden Birdsong, they can afford to let Webb go. Given his consistency and the fact that a team would be getting him for several years, the Giants could probably get some decent prospects back for him.

Of course, trading Webb would send a signal to the clubhouse and the fanbase that the front office does not believe in the team and would be pretty awful for team chemistry and fan morale. That is why it is an unlikely move, but it is not impossible that Webb gets dealt.

2. DH Jorge Soler

SF Giants slugger Jorge Soler has not been great in his first year with the Giants, but he has looked better as of late. He is currently slashing .240/.330/.419 with 12 home runs and 40 RBI.

When the Giants signed him to a 3-year deal in the offseason, I do not think anyone would have guessed that he would become a regular leadoff hitter for the team. But he has done a good job in the role and has proven to be a patient hitter, getting on base via walk 44 times.

However, it is because he has improved as of late that the Giants may decide to trade him. A contending team could definitely use a powerful bat like his and the Atlanta Braves would certainly welcome him back after he was a hero for them in the 2021 postseason.

Teams may not love the fact that Soler is a DH signed to a three year deal which may scare them away. But if the Giants decide to sell and a contending team is desperate enough for a power bat, then Soler could be on the move.

3. RP Tyler Rogers

Right-handed submariner Tyler Rogers has been an incredibly reliable and consistent reliever for the Giants since he debuted in 2019. He is really the rock of the team's bullpen but he may find himself pitching for another team pretty soon if the Giants decide to sell.

There has been a lot of talk about closer Camilo Doval being on the move given his struggles, but perhaps his rough 2024 will scare off potential buyers. Rogers is much more consistent and you know what you are getting with him. He has an ERA of 3.26 on the year and has appeared in more games than any other pitcher in baseball.

He is obviously not your typical flamethrower late-inning reliever. His fastball tops out at 84 or 85 mph. But his funky delivery, accuracy, and wicked slider and ability to get ground balls makes him an intriguing option for teams in need of bullpen help.

If a team gives the Giants an enticing offer for Rogers then he may be on his way out of the door even though he may seem like he is in a pretty safe position.
