3 most egregious SF Giants players snubbed in 2024 All-Star game

2. Tyler Rogers

Speaking of consistent contributors, Tyler Rogers has been an effective set-up man for the Giants for 4 seasons now. It is easy to take him for granted as well or to focus more on the times when he does struggle and give up a lead in the late innings.

Rogers leads all of MLB pitchers with 46 appearances. He is an absolute work horse that the Giants rely on and he has still been very effective with a 2.76 ERA in 42 and 1/3 innings pitched. Some Giants fans are probably glad that Rogers did not make the All-Star team so he can get some much-needed rest over the break.

Plus, it is difficult for relievers that are not closers to make an All-Star team. Another Giants snub is the man who has arguably been even better than Tyler Rogers out of the bullpen this year.

3. Ryan Walker

Ryan Walker has been tremendous for the Giants this year after he broke out and established himself as a solid reliever in 2023. He posted a very solid 3.23 ERA last season but has improved on that mark this season with a 1.91 ERA in 44 appearances which is tied for 2nd for most appearances by a pitcher.

Walker is just as much of a work horse as Rogers and the Giants have had to lean on him heavily as a set up man this year which he has done a great job at. His nasty sinker/slider combo makes things very difficult for opposing hitters and he definitely has the stuff necessary to be a closer if Camilo Doval gets injured or traded.

Both Rogers and Walker are very deserving of All-Star nods, but both would probably benefit from a few days of rest with how much they have been used this season. Every team always has a few All-Star snubs and the Giants had 3 pretty obvious ones this year.
