3 free agents that the SF Giants should absolutely target

2. Brandon Drury

I’m not just saying to poach guys from the Padres because it will hurt them and help the Giants all at once. However, that is a nice pro that I hadn’t thought about. Brandon Drury would actually help every team in the MLB if they landed him.

If the Giants were able to grab Drury off the free-agent market, it would do so much to help the team. First and foremost, Drury is a plug-and-play wherever you need him as a player. This season alone, he played 30 games at first base, 27 at second base, 67 at third base, 2 at shortstop, and one in right field. There is no one else on the market that can do that as well as Drury. It’s something the Giants desperately need as well. Sure, Thairo Estrada can play both middle infield positions with a little bit of outfield. Wilmer Flores can play 3B, 2B, and 1B as well. At the end of the day though, that is about it that was on the Giants' 26-man roster this season on a regular basis. Adding Drury would give Kapler another player like Kris Bryant who you can pencil into the lineup and play wherever you need that day.

On top of that, Drury brings a middle-of-the-lineup bat with him. This season was a career year for Drury where he hit .263/.320/.492 while hitting 28 home runs and finishing with 87 RBIs. If you throw all that together, it would be smart to think that he’ll be in line for a nice payday when the winter comes. Hopefully, the Giants are one of the teams ready to negotiate a deal when free agency begins.
