3 absolute untouchables for the SF Giants ahead of the trade deadline
2. CF Heliot Ramos
Many fans would have been surprised before the season to see Heliot Ramos considered untouchable in trade talks. Until this season, he seemed very much like he was going to be a bust.
Thankfully for both him and the Giants, he has turned things around this season. Ever since he was called up on May 8th, he has torn the cover off the ball hitting .298/.365/.523 with 14 home runs and 46 RBI. This performance earned him an All-Star nod which was very well deserved.
The Giants have not had a homegrown outfielder show this much promise in a long time. Ramos is absolutely someone the team should build around going forward. Next season we could very well see a youthful outfield of Jung Hoo Lee, Ramos, and Luis Matos. If everything goes perfect that could be a pretty formidable outfield for the rest of the decade.
Some teams could certainly show interest in Ramos, but the Giants must turn them down. Ramos is far too valuable to the future of the team. Now let's turn to another invaluable player on the roster for the Giants.
