One of the interesting things that happens every year at the start of spring training is seeing how different some players look. Some have lost or gained weight in the offseason or changed up their hair as two SF Giants players did recently, making themselves nearly unrecognizable.
Outfielder Heliot Ramos dyed his hair blonde in honor of joining Team Puerto Rico for the World Baseball Classic. It is a tradition the team has done in the past and they are keeping it going this year as well.
Reliever Spencer Bivens has also changed up his look as he ditched his iconic dreadlocks for a shaven look. He said he was just looking for a clean, fresh start and said that his hair grows back pretty quickly, but it will definitely take some getting used to after the way he looked the last two seasons.

Of course, far more important than how both players look on the field is how they perform. For Ramos, he will look to continue the solid offensive production he has put up the last few seasons but the big thing to look out for is how he performs on defense. It was a struggle last season and he graded out as one of the worst defensive left fielders in baseball.
Thankfully, the Giants brought Harrison Bader into the mix to play center field which should strengthen the unit as a whole. Bader has won a Gold Glove and will play an important role as the leader of the outfield. Jung Hoo Lee and Ramos should benefit a ton from having him out there so it would not be surprising if Ramos looked a lot better defensively in 2026.
As for Bivens, he has been an unsung hero these last two years. The numbers don't jump off the page as he had a 3.14 ERA in 2024 and a 4.00 ERA last season, but he has been a valuable innings eater for the team as he has had to fill in for the team in all sorts of roles.
He has started games and closed them and has done basically anything that's been asked of him. With the bullpen as wide open as it is, Bivens figures to have a pretty good chance to make the team and he could even claim a more prominent late-inning role if he pitches really well this season.
While Ramos and Bivens have become plenty familiar to Giants fans these last two seasons, they will look a bit different in 2026 with their hair changes.
