One team is viewed as a "heavy favorite" to acquire 2026 All-Star from SF Giants

The AL East is viewed as a likely landing spot for Luis Arráez, with one team emerging as a heavy favorite. According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Tampa Bay Rays are considered the likeliest landing spot for the 2026 NL All-Star.

The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are reportedly in the mix as well. As of Sunday morning, the Giants have not begun selling off their tradable assets. Activity should pick up quickly with less than 24 hours to go before the trade deadline.

The Giants will likely trade Arráez, along with several other players. The list of expiring deals includes Robbie Ray, Tyler Mahle, and JT Brubaker. They could expand their pool of trade candidates to include Sam Hentges, Jason Foley, and even Heliot Ramos.

Jung Hoo Lee has been mentioned in trade talks this season, but his contract presents a couple of complications. That said, they were previously open to the idea but have since changed gears.

It is a near certainty that the SF Giants will look to move Luis Arráez before the trade deadline

The rentals will be the easiest players to move, and there could be a surprise name or two also traded before the deadline. There is a good chance that Arráez's time in San Francisco is up. He was pulled from Friday night's game and sat out Saturday's game. The logical conclusion in both of those instances was that he had been traded, but he had been dealing with leg cramps.

The Giants signed the veteran infielder to a one-year, $12 million pact late in the offseason. While rentals generally do not net much on the trade market, they could get a marginally better prospect by absorbing the remainder of what he is owed.

This proved to be one of the only good moves in the offseason by the Giants. He is slashing .328/.364/.446 (122 wRC+) with four home runs, 43 RBI, and 52 runs in 459 plate appearances. This includes a 4.4 percent strikeout rate, which is the best mark in baseball by a good margin.

Previously known as a below-average defender, Arráez has seen his defense improve considerably this season. That is a testament to the work that he put in, as well as the work done by Ron Washington. While his tenure is likely coming to a close, Arráez will be remembered fondly by Giants fans.
