Thursday was the soft deadline for teams to come to terms with their remaining arbitration-eligible players for 2025. For the SF Giants, there were no surprises as they avoided arbitration with LaMonte Wade Jr., Camilo Doval, and Tyler Rogers.

I refer to it as a soft deadline because teams and players can continue negotiating a salary for 2025 even after the deadline. There have been times when both parties agreed to a deal right before an arbitration hearing.

Many teams employ a file-and-trial approach. This is when a team will cease discussions once the deadline passes, meaning that they will head to arbitration with a player. The Giants have been one of the teams to employ this in recent years and it is just a terrible policy. I do hope that Buster Posey reverses this trend and he is off to a good start.

Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reported that the Giants agreed to terms with LaMonte Wade Jr. and Camilo Doval for $5 million and $4.5 million, respectively. According to MLB Trade Rumors, Wade Jr. was projected to earn $4.7 million for 2025 and came in right above that. On the other hand, Doval was projected to see $4.6 million and he came in slightly below that.

A source confirmed to FanSided that the Giants and Tyler Rogers settled for $5.25 million. He was projected to earn $5.5 million in 2025.

This will be Wade Jr. and Rogers' final time through arbitration as they are scheduled to hit free agency next offseason. Doval still has two more years of arbitration remaining after this one.

Wade Jr. is coming off of a strong year at the plate where he slashed .260/.380/.381 (119 wRC+) with eight home runs, 34 RBI, and 45 runs in 401 plate appearances. He reached base at a healthy rate but his power declined.

Doval began the season as the closer but lost the role as he struggled to a 4.88 ERA in 62 appearances and he was briefly demoted to Triple-A in August. Rogers registered a 2.82 ERA while leading the NL with 77 appearances.
