Sure, why not give them another superstar?

Things are really bad for the SF Giants right now as it feels like they are never going to win another game again. To make matters worse, the Los Angeles Dodgers are being linked to yet another Japanese slugger because why not?

New York Post reporter Jon Heyman said that Munetaka Murakami is a potential fit for the Dodgers. Murakami, a corner infielder who currently plays in the Nippon Professional Baseball League, is set to be one of the top free agents on the market this offseason.

Heyman named three other teams as a fit: the New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, and Seattle Mariners. There will probably be no shortage of teams interested him based on what he brings to the table at the plate.

In his career in Japan he has a .273/.395/.545 slash line with 248 home runs and 684 runs batted in. He is also just 25 years old so he is still in his prime and his best years could still be ahead of him.

Of course, the offseason is far away so there is no guarantee Murakami will sign with Los Angeles, but going off recent history it feels inevitable.

The Giants have been in on pretty much every major Japanese free agent player in recent offseasons. They were in on Shohei Ohtani before he signed with the Dodgers. They were in on Yoshinobu Yamamoto before he said no to them and joined Ohtani in LA. They were in on Roki Sasaki before he surprised no one by picking the Dodgers. That is not even to mention the fruitless free agent pursuits of Bryce Harper and Aaron Judge.

Giants fans have been burned so many times getting their hopes up for big free agents that it seems pointless to go through all of that again. We will surely hear some rumors connecting the Giants to Murakami, even though they are more than set at first base and third base for the foreseeable future.

At this point, it would probably be more of a shock if Murakami did not sign with Los Angeles. It is the place where seemingly every free agent wants to go so why wouldn't they add another young talent from Japan since that is what they seemingly do every year.
