The SF Giants are off to a red-hot start in the 2025 season. The team is 6-1 to begin the year and they just had an exhilarating walk-off win in their home opener. Yet, they are still not getting too much love from national media outlets.

A recent social media post from @Brooks_Gate broke down the number of times each team had been posted about by the official MLB account on social media since Opening Day and the results were telling. As of April 3rd, the Los Angeles Dodgers led the way with 68 posts with the New York Yankees in second with 52. The San Diego Padres came in third with 33 posts.

Comparatively, the Giants were only posted about 11 times by the MLB account. To be fair, that number has gone up in recent days, but it is still telling that MLB focuses so much of their attention on the Dodgers.

MLB social media account not giving SF Giants enough love

Sure, the Dodgers are the reigning World Series champions and they have a star-studded roster. However, it is clear that MLB is leaning heavily into Dodgers coverage. They know that since the Dodgers are so polarizing, posts about them will most likely garner more attention and engagement.

While all of the attention on the Dodgers is annoying, it is nothing new. The Giants have always had a way of flying under the radar and never really garnering much attention from the national baseball media no matter how well they are doing.

Their three World Series championships in the 2010's were treated more as an oddity rather than a dynasty. Had the Dodgers or Yankees done the same thing they likely would have been declared a generational team.

This can be a good thing, though. The Giants can be a team that flies under the radar without any of the lofty expectations attached to more nationally lauded teams burdening them.

Justin Verlander said that there is something special about this Giants team after Friday's walk-off win. It is still very early in the season, but if the Giants can continue their impressive play and prove that they are a special team that is going to stick around, then maybe we will see the MLB account give them the respect they deserve.
