The SF Giants have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball, especially when it comes to the bullpen. Do they have the best 1-2 punch as well? Jon Morosi of the MLB Network believes Logan Webb and Robbie Ray are among the best rotation duos.

Morosi joined the Murph and Markus Show on KNBR earlier this week to discuss several topics, including the Giants' strong start to the year. He was asked about the rotation, and affirmed that he believes that Webb and Ray are the best 1-2 punch.

They are certainly in that conversation. If you go by ERA, Ray ranks 14th among qualified starters with a 2.55 ERA. Webb is one spot behind him with a 2.58 ERA. Both have a strong case to make the NL All-Star team next month.

Ray has had a resurgent 2025 campaign after missing most of the past two seasons due to injury. His four-seam fastball grades out as among the best fastballs in baseball according to Baseball Savant. The 2021 AL Cy Young winner has typically had a good slider to go with it, but he has mixed in a new changuep this season, too.

On the other hand, Webb has benefited from a change in pitch mix. His sweeper has seen a spike in usage, followed by a corresponding decrease in changeup usage. Both pitches are missing bats more than they have in recent years, leading to a large increase in his strikeout rate.

There are some good duos in baseball. The New York Mets have two pitchers ahead of Ray and Webb in ERA, with Kodai Senga (1.47 ERA) and David Peterson (2.49 ERA).

Oddly enough, the Texas Rangers have three of the top-11 qualified starters in ERA. Nathan Eovaldi leads that club with a 1.56 ERA, followed by Jacob deGrom with a 2.12 ERA and Tyler Mahle with a 2.34 ERA. The Rangers have struggled to a 33-36 record this season, but they can pitch. The hitting has been more of a question mark. There is a good chance that both the Rangers and Giants target some of the same hitters at the trade deadline if both teams are buyers.

The Kansas City Royals have a well-rounded rotation, headlined by Kris Bubic, Michael Wacha, and Seth Lugo. Even the Cincinnati Reds have a quality duo on paper with Hunter Greene and Andrew Abbott.

There are a lot of good pitching duos in baseball this year. Ray and Webb might be among the duos who help their club reach the playoffs.
