Come again, Scott?

Infamous agent Scott Boras is known for his ability to get his clients large free agent deals. Apparently, he is also an amateur wordsmith based on his recent comments about SF Giants free agent target Blake Snell.

According to Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle, Boras had this to say about his client Snell: "There’s no doubt the Snelling salts created a lot of whiffs. And the market has definitely awakened.”

What was that, Scott? Snelling salts?

There are a lot of ways to try and talk up your client, but going with strange wordplay is an incredibly bold strategy.

Scott Boras talks up SF Giants target Blake Snell in the weirdest way possible

I cannot wait until someone asks him about Ha-Seong Kim. My money is on him saying, "The shoulder is fine, and I think you'll find that a lot of teams are lining up for a hearty serving of Ha-Seong Kimchi."

Or with Juan Soto: "I'll tell you right now my client is not going to settle for Soto crackers (soda crackers)." You get the point.

Hey, at least Scott is having fun as he tries to ruthlessly bid up the asking price for his clients.

We all know that Snell is going to be a target for San Francisco this offseason. And whether they have whiffed his salts or not, they are going to have to pay a pretty penny to keep him in San Francisco after he opted out of his contract.

Plenty of teams are going to be eager to land the left-handed ace after he was absolutely dominant in the second half of last season with the Giants.

I think the Giants still have a pretty good case to make, though. They have a pitcher-friendly ballpark that Snell thrives in and if they sign him before Spring Training this time he will be able to adequately ramp up heading into the season.

If Snell cares at all about his legacy, a few more years pitching in San Francisco while he is still in his prime could earn him another Cy Young Award and may guarantee he has a spot in Cooperstown.

Or maybe he doesn't care about any of that and just wants to go to whoever signs the biggest check. We will see if the Giants are even willing to do that.

It will be interesting to see how the Snell saga unfolds this offseason. If Boras' odd comments are any indication, we are in for an offseason full of awkward and strange wordplay from the most notorious agent in baseball.
