With the SF Giants having a very quiet offseason, it seems the team is going to need to rely on its existing players to have success in 2025. That's why it is nice to see Willy Adames and Jung Hoo Lee hanging out together.
Adames visited Lee in his native South Korea and posted it on social media. The photo of the two can be viewed here. The Giants are going to be relying on Adames and Lee as two of the key leaders on the team in 2026.
Not only did Adames travel to to South Korea, but so did new manager Tony Vitello. He went and hung out with both Lee and Adames which is nice to see especially since it is possible both Lee and Adames will miss part of spring training due to the World Baseball Classic so they are at least establishing some chemistry before Scottsdale.
SF Giants stars Willy Adames and Jung Hoo Lee in South Korea
Lee was San Francisco's big addition prior to the 2024 season and Adames was the team's big signing prior to 2025. The Giants have a lot of money tied up in both guys and are going to need them to play up to their potential if they are to have any shot at returning to the playoffs in 2026.
2025 was essentially still a rookie season for Lee after he was robbed of much of 2024 due to a shoulder injury. Lee slashed .266/.327/.407 with eight home runs and 55 runs batted in during the 2025 season. It was a decent season overall although it was slightly disappointing as he started off the year red-hot and looked like he was poised for a breakout season.
The Giants will be hoping for a step forward at the plate, but they will also be hoping he can improve defensively in center field after he struggled out there in 2025. Perhaps the new coaching staff led by manager Tony Vitello can help get the most out of Lee and his talents.
As for Adames, he was sort of the opposite of Lee in that he really struggled early in his Giants tenure. However, he was able to turn things around and finished 2025 with a respectable slash line of .225/.318/.421 with 30 home runs and 87 driven in, becoming the first Giant since Barry Bonds to hit 30 homers in a season.
At this point in the offseason, it seems unlikely that the Giants are going to make a splash even though sluggers like Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger are still available. That means the burden is going to be squarely on Adames, Lee, Matt Chapman, and Rafael Devers as the highest-priced fixtures of the lineup.
It is nice to see Adames and Lee bonding like this as they are two of the easiest guys to root for on the team and hopefully their chemistry will lead to success for the Giants in 2026.
