Young SF Giants reliever Erik Miller benefited from a missed call during Monday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. LASIK vision correction wasted no time in offering a free procedure to home plate Tony Randazzo after the game.

The sequence took place in the bottom of the seventh inning of Monday's game. Miller was on the mound facing off against veteran catcher J.T Realmuto.

Realmuto put together a spirited battle and nearly lifted a three-run home run that went just foul. The score was 8-4 at the time, so that would have brought the game to within one. He worked the count full and took the sixth pitch of the at-bat. That pitch was clearly outside of the strike zone by a good margin, but Tony Randazzo ruled it a strike.

Instead of advancing to first base, Realmuto struck out, ending a potential rally for the Phillies. How bad was the call? The Umpire Scorecard shows an egregious miss.

Bailey gets credit for framing the pitch, and LASIK took full advantage of the opportunity for some free advertising. Unfortunately, that proved to be a critical call at that point in the game, even if it went in the Giants' favor. These things tend to even out over the course of the year.

On Monday, it was Realmuto who was on the losing end of that call. The Giants did tack on two more insurance runs in the ninth inning to secure a 10-4 win. While that is a sizable margin, it felt much closer during Realmuto's at-bat.

The win gave the Giants their first victory of the four-game series against a tough Phillies team. They are in the midst of a 10-game road trip that should serve as a pretty good litmus test for where they stand.

They took two out of three against the New York Yankees over the weekend. Jung Hoo Lee's three home runs during that series played a huge role. The middle part of the road trip is against the Phillies and they finish up in Los Angeles against the Angels.

The Angels are off to a surprisingly strong start with a 9-6 record. They lead the NL West currently in a division that looks to be on the weaker side. Let's hope the Giants do not end up on the losing end of a LASIK vision correction advertisement.
