The SF Giants are playing some better baseball as of late, but the most exciting development in the organization remains top prospect Bryce Eldridge's power surge in Triple-A. At this point, he is practically begging Buster Posey to call him up.

Eldridge mashed yet another home run on Thursday as the Sacramento River Cats put up 21 runs on the board. It was no wall-scraper either as Eldridge blasted it 470 feet over the right field wall:

Top SF Giants prospect Bryce Eldridge is begging to be called up

That is Eldridge's 23rd homer of the year in the minor leagues and the 16th he has hit for the River Cats. It seems like practically every day he is hitting a monster home run which is only going to make the desire grow amongst the fanbase to see him with the big league club when rosters expand in September.

President of baseball operations Buster Posey recently poured cold water on the idea of calling up Eldridge this season. But at this point it is really hard to imagine not seeing Eldridge debut with the Giants in 2025 since this power surge has been going on all month.

The team is almost certainly not going to make the playoffs and they are not going to have much to play for in September other than pride. Why not give your top prospect a taste of the big leagues the same way the Giants called up Posey back in September of 2009?

Sure, the rules are different now and rosters only expand from 26 to 28 unlike the old days when anyone on the 40-man roster could get called up.

However, Posey himself has made it a point of emphasis that the Giants are in the memory-making business. What could be more memorable in a lost season than getting to see Eldridge get his first big league hit or maybe even his first Splash Hit into McCovey Cove?

It is understandable that the front office and coaching staff want to be careful with him and do not want to rush him up. He is still just 20 years old after all. But still, after a trying and disappointing season it would at least give the fans a little hope to catch a glimpse of the future by calling him up.

Posey has made it clear it is not his preference to promote Eldridge, but with each bomb Eldridge hits in Triple-A it is only going to be harder for Posey to deny what so many fans want.
