The SF Giants had a decent bullpen in 2024. They changed closers during the season but also got some solid showings from young pitchers. Let’s take a look at what the bullpen may look like in 2025.

The Giants ranked in the middle of the pack in bullpen ERA in 2024. Their collective 3.96 ERA is not terrible, but it also leaves room for improvement. We will see if this projected group can indeed improve on that mark.

SF Giants bullpen projection for 2025

1. Tristan Beck

Tristan Beck had a remarkable recovery from the aneurysm in his right arm last season. He was able to make it back by the end of the season and pitched well. He makes sense as a long relief pitcher to start next season.

2. Landen Roupp

Landen Roupp looked like an effective starter by the end of 2024, but if he loses out in the competition for a spot in the rotation he makes sense as another long reliever who can take some pressure off other arms in the bullpen.

3. Randy Rodriguez

Randy Rodriguez showed a lot of promise in 2024. His high velocity makes him an asset and it was clear that manager Bob Melvin gained more trust in him as the season went on. He definitely seems like a solid 6th or 7th inning option for the Giants.

4. Spencer Bivens

Spencer Bivens was one of the more remarkable stories for the Giants in 2024. As a 30 year old rookie, he did a little bit of everything with the Giants. He started some games, pitched as a middle reliever, and even got a save. That flexibility will make him valuable in the bullpen next season.

5. Erik Miller

With the likely departure of Taylor Rogers, Erik Miller is now the undisputed top left-handed arm in the bullpen for the Giants. He looked solid in his rookie season and he throws the ball hard. He has room for improvement but he is going to be relied upon as a late-inning arm yet again.

6. Camilo Doval

Yes, Camilo Doval did lose the closer role in 2024 and clearly had a down year. However, he certainly still has a talented arm and can have a bounce back year in 2025. He seems like a great candidate to be a setup man for the team where he can hopefully regain some confidence and be the pitcher he once was.

7. Tyler Rogers

Tyler Rogers has been remarkably consistent as a setup man for the Giants. Look for him to be their primary 8th inning arm yet again. Some may complain that he is ill suited for the role but the numbers do not lie. I for one cannot wait to see him strike a guy out while also hitting him in the face with the pitch again.

8. Ryan Walker

With Doval’s struggles, Ryan Walker stepped up and became a great closer for the Giants which cleared up what potentially could have been a big question mark in the offseason. He was clutch and clearly looked comfortable and confident in the role with each save. One thing to monitor is his usage. Both he and Rogers were used a ton in 2024 so let’s hope there are no ill effects felt in 2025.

While this will probably not be accurate come opening day 2025, it seems pretty likely that at least 4 or 5 of these names will be in the bullpen to start next season for the Giants.
