The SF Giants are wrapping up another disappointing finish to a season, and it is time to start looking ahead to 2026. As the annual tradition goes, the Giants will need to revamp the roster in preparation for their next attempt to reach the playoffs in 2026. Here are three Giants who probably should not stick around next year.
3 SF Giants playing their way out of team's 2026 plans
1. Wilmer Flores
It's disappointing because Flores had such a strong start to the season, but he has played his way off the 2026 roster. Flores is a pending free agent, and there is no way he's getting re-signed by San Francisco.
Since April 13th, Flores is slashing .238/.309/.348, with a .657 OPS. While he does have 52 RBI in that stretch, he has just 20 extra base hits in his past 107 games. He also provides very little defensive value. He's been worth 0.4 bWAR this season after being worth -0.6 bWAR in 2024. Those numbers are hardly worth bringing back.
He has been a really good Giant since joining the team back in 2020, but his time with the team has likely reached an end.
2. Tyler Fitzgerald
Fitzgerald was sent down in August, and the 27-year-old infielder probably will not be coming back anytime soon.
Despite his strong defense, Fitzgerald struggled at the plate all season in 2025. He had a 73 OPS+ at the time he was sent down, and even with his defensive value, was worth just 0.9 bWAR. The Giants might be wise to look for a long-term solution at second-base this offseason.
3. Tristan Beck
Beck had been solid for the Giants in 40 career games between 2023 and 2024. In 2025, the reliever has fallen apart. In 27 appearances, he's pitched to a 5.12 ERA and 4.42 FIP in 51 innings. He's been the weak spot in an otherwise solid bullpen. There's a chance the Giants bring him back, as they still have control over the 29-year-old, but it feels like he will have to fight to earn his spot in the pen next spring.
The Giants have a number of roster holes to address in the offseason. While all three of these players have done good things for the Giants, it is tough to imagine them playing a big role in 2026 as the team tries to get back to the playoffs.
