With the 2025 season looking like another lost year for the SF Giants, here are three young players currently in Triple-A Sacramento who deserve to be called up to the big league squad to get some experience.
3 SF Giants who deserve a call-up in increasingly lost season
1. Bryce Eldridge
Eldridge, the Giants' top prospect according to MLB Pipeline, has only played a handful of games in Triple-A since joining the Sacramento River Cats. The tools are clear, and the power is unbelievable. In just 38 games, the first baseman has hit 12 home runs and driven in 43 runs. While his 53 strikeouts are concerning, Eldridge still has an .835 OPS. He'll likely take time to solve the strikeout issue at the big league level as well, so it feels like San Francisco should just give him a shot.
2. Marco Luciano
It's probably time to give Luciano another shot at the big leagues. The former top prospect struggled in two stints with San Francisco in 2023 and 2024. He's moved from infield to outfield and might be destined for a career as a 4A player going forward. With that being said, he's earned a call-up, at least to be a role player on the Giants.
In 97 games in Triple-A, he's slashing .217/.343/.436. His average is weighed down by a high strikeout rate, but he's getting on base and hitting for power, with a team-leading 20 home runs and 17 doubles.
3. Hunter Bishop
The 27-year-old former first-round pick has grinded his way through the Giants' minor-league system. While he's no longer the heralded prospect he once was, he's been putting together a solid season in Triple-A and deserves a call-up after seven years in the organization. The outfielder has a .751 OPS in 77 games with the River Cats, with 45 RBI to his credit. He has good speed and could be a solid bench outfielder for the Giants going forward.
The Giants have had an extremely disappointing fall from grace which has forced them to pivot. It is unfortunate that they will no longer be chasing a postseason spot and instead will be giving their young players a look, but that seems to be the most prudent course of action right now.
