What is former SF Giants manager Bruce Bochy up to these days?

Well, Bochy has spent a lot of time fishing in retirement. On top of this, he and longtime SF Giants catcher Buster Posey recently teamed up for a Toyota commercial that will make you laugh.

If you have not seen it, Posey posted it on his Twitter account:

The commercial begins with a Posey driving his Toyota Highlander with the GPS seemingly set to the sound of a strangely familiar voice. The GPS voice gives several directions before the camera pans out to reveal that Bochy is guiding Posey from the passenger’s seat.

Posey makes a joke that the longtime Giants skipper does not need to call the shots anymore. In his usual dry wit, Bochy replies that he just wanted some tacos!

Bochy managed the Giants for 13 seasons, beginning in 2007. He led them to three World Series championships (2010, 2012, and 2014) along the way. Posey debuted with San Francisco in 2009 and had not played for another manager in a major-league game until Opening Day of 2021.

Bochy had retired from managing in 2019. With that being said, the veteran skipper does seem to be surveying the field for one more opportunity. When the Chicago White Sox fired manager Rick Renteria after four seasons, they sought an experienced manager.

They ended up hiring Tony La Russa, but Bochy wound up being the second choice if La Russa had passed on the opportunity. At 65 years of age, Bochy may have one more opportunity left in him, and that opportunity could present itself in the next round of coaching hires.

Nevertheless, it was good to see Posey and Bochy team up one more time, even if it was for only 30 seconds. At this point, they likely have a bond that will last a lifetime.
