The SF Giants have assigned 27 players to their alternate site roster. While many of the organization’s most prominent minor-league free agent signings will participate at the alternate site, many of the Giants’ top 31 prospects will be joining them as well.

The Giants team at the alternate site in Sacramento has scheduled a series of exhibition games against the Oakland Athletics’ alternate site team. Many of the best prospects at the alternate site also received significant playing time at spring training. There were some interesting positives and negatives from each player’s performance that they will try to build on this season.

Interestingly, top prospect Marco Luciano was omitted from the alternate site roster. He did struggle mightily at spring training, and the organization might prefer to get him more specialized reps at minor-league camp in Arizona. The other top prospects, though, like Joey Bart, Hunter Bishop, Heliot Ramos, and Will Wilson, will all be playing at the alternate site in Sacramento.

While minor-league baseball is not officially underway yet, many of the SF Giants’ most exciting prospects and upper-minors depth will be able to spend the next month squaring off against players in the Oakland Athletics organization at the alternate site. Depending on how each player performs, some could find their way onto the big-league roster or more challenging minor-league assignments.
