Each week this fall we’ll be updating you with how San Francisco Giants prospects are doing in the Arizona Fall League. Here are results from week one.

Chris Shaw has gotten off to a slow start with just 2 hits in 10 at-bats. He has walked three times giving him a respectable on-base-percentage of .385. Shaw has also scored a run.

Another San Francisco Giants outfielder, Steven Duggar, has gotten out to a slow start with just 1 hit in 13 at-bats. However, he’s scored 3 runs and driven in a run. Duggar has walked three times and struck out five times. He also got caught stealing in his only stolen base attempt.

Catcher Aramis Garcia is 2-for-8 in his first two Arizona Fall League games with no walks and 3 strikeouts.

As for the pitching prospects from the San Francisco Giants, Tyler Cyr had a good first outing. He pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout, allowing just one hit.

However, the top performance in the AFL from a Giants prospect comes from D.J. Snelten in week one.

More from Around the Foghorn

The 25-year-old relief pitcher tossed two scoreless innings in his first AFL appearance. Snelten didn’t allow a hit, but did walk a batter, while striking out two in his outing.

It was a great first outing for Snelten who is looking to crack the Giants bullpen next spring. Showing that he can throw multiple innings is a huge plus.

Tyler Beede did not pitch in week one, so we wait for his debut.

The Scottsdale Scorpions have five more games this week. They went 2-3 in week one, which actually has them tied for the East division lead.

Obviously there is still a long way to go, but it’s a good start for our prospects.
