UPDATE 6:35pm: Pablo Sandoval has been scratched from the lineup due to illness. Joaquin Arias will start at 3B tonight in his place.

The Giants are looking to Matt Cain (1-3, 3.52 ERA) to help them bounce back from back-to-back losses against the Nationals. Tanner Roark (4-4, 2.91 ERA) will start for Washington in game three of a four game series at AT&T Park at 7:15pm PT. Cain has been outstanding when facing the Nationals in the past. He is 3-0 with a 1.66 ERA in five homestands against Washington. They are batting .234 when facing Cain, but Jayson Werth has 4 hits in 6 at bats against him (.667 batting average).

Last night’s issue wasn’t the pitching performance from Madison Bumgarner (2 ERs in 7 innings), but the lack of offense. Brandon Crawford has been moved up to the 6th spot in the lineup and they moved Brandon Hicks to the 8th spot. Gregor Blanco will get the start in left field over Tyler Colvin.

The Giants haven’t seen much of Roark in the past, he debuted for the Nationals last season and the RHP was 7-1 with a 1.51 ERA in five games started.  He has left LHB to a .191 batting average and RHB to a .252 batting average. If the Giants want to win tonight’s game, they’ll have to get the offense going again. Lineups

In other news, the Giants have traded David Huff back to the Yankees for cash after assuming he wouldn’t pass through waivers.
