“Down On The Farm” is a recap of all the San Francisco Giants Minor League affiliates. Here is the rundown of the standings, highlights, and prospects from the Giants’ farm system as of June 10, 2014.

Fresno Grizzlies (Triple-A ) 34-32, 3rd in Pacific Coast League Pacific Southern

Mark Minicozzi has been off the disabled list since May 13 and is currently batting .400 with 4 HRs and 26 RBIs in only 75 ABs. He’s been at 3B lately (instead of 1B like Spring Training) and is having a fantastic season with Fresno.

Adam Duvall (3B) leads the Grizzlies this season with 19 home runs and 55 RBIs. He’s batting .300 this year in 213 at bats.

Andrew Susac (C) was having a great season, batting .296 with 6 HRs, 20 RBIs in 98 at bats. He’s been placed on the temporarily inactive list as of May 26. 

Joe Panik (2B) has been another name floating around to make it to the bigs this year although many think he might not be ready. The second baseman has ben batting .324 for the Grizzlies in 298 at bats so far this season.

Jason Berken is leading the team with seven wins and five losses with a 4.89 ERA. Edwin Escobar, one of the Giants’ top pitching prospects has had a mediocre year going 3-6 with a 4.99 ERA. Heath Hembree is leading the Grizzlies in saves with 11 and holds a 3.97 ERA in 22.2 innings pitched.

Richmond Flying Squirrels (Double-A) 36-26, 2nd in the Eastern League Western

Matt Duffy (SS) is leading Richmond with a batting average of .341 in 226 at bats. He’s only hit one home run but has 35 RBIs so far this year.

Mario Lisson (3B) and Angel Villalona (1B) lead the Flying Squirrels in home runs with eight each. Villalona leads the team in RBIs with 39.

Andrew Carignan – Assigned to Richmond (AA)
Hunter Strickland – Assigned to Richmond (AA)

Jack Snodgrass is leading the team in wins at 6-0 with a 2.25 ERA in 52 innings pitched. Kyle Crick has improved since the spring and is now 4-1 with a 3.46 ERA in 39 innings pitched. Derek Law has been leading the team in saves with 13 but has recently needed a break for some elbow tightness (which looks to only be muscle-related).

San Jose Giants (Class A-Advanced) 33-33, 4th place in California League North

Blake Miller (1B) has been leading the Giants with a batting average of .323 with seven home runs. He has also been leading the team with a record-high 51 RBIs in 229 at bats.

Mitch Delfino (3B) is also having an excellent season, batting .290 with a team high of nine home runs and 75 hits in 259 at bats.

Mac Williamson (RF) is out for the year after Tommy John surgery. Santiago Casilla will make a rehab start in San Jose this Thursday.

Pat Young (5-1, 5.50 ERA in 54 innings pitched) has the best record on the Giants’ starting pitching staff while Steven Okert has 18 saves so far this season with a 1.67 ERA in 32.1 innings pitched.

Augusta Greenjackets (Class-A) 15-20, 5th place in South Atlantic League Southern

The Salem Keizer Volcanoes start their short season in two days.
