Pre-Game & Lineups: San Francisco Giants & Vogelsong Look For Second Win Against Atlanta

The Giants will take on the Braves in game two of a three game series today at 4:10pm PT. Ryan Vogelsong will make the start for the Giants hoping to improve on his 0-1 record and 5.40 ERA.

Vogelsong (0-1, 5.40 ERA) had a fantastic start against the Cleveland Indians on April 30. He only allowed 2 hits in 7 IP, striking out six batters and walking two. Here is how he matches up against Atlanta’s offense.

Julio Teheran will start for the Braves and is looking to help the team break Atlanta’s four-game losing streak. The 23-year old pitcher is 2-1, with a 1.47 ERA and looks to be the ace of the starting pitching staff this season. On April 16, he had a 115-pitch shutout against Philadelphia, only allowing three hits in nine innings pitched with no runs.

Despite his low ERA, the Giants have had success against Teheran in the past.

The Giants homered twice yesterday. Angel Pagan (.337, 3 HRs) hit a lead-off HR in the first inning and Michael Morse (.311, 7 HRs) hit one in the sixth inning. The Giants lead the MLB in 23 homers on the road this season and the team is third in the MLB with 36 home runs. Both Pagan an Morse will be in the lineup again today.

Brandon Belt is still having problems at the plate. He has a team high of 34 strikeouts this season and his batting average has dipped to a .252. He still is tied (with Morse) for most home runs on the team with seven.

Here is how the Giants’ offense is looking so far this season.
