Big innings in the 5th & 6th, where the Grizzlies put on 4 runs each frame, was more than enough to shut down Salt Lake. Gary Brown (CF) and once again, Duvall, both hit the long ball. Edwin Escobar started the game, but was not able to earn the win. He pitched 4 innings with 5 hits and 3 earned runs, however he did strike out 7 in his four frames. Adam Reifer got the win after pitching 3 innings of middle relief, only allowing 2 hits and 1 earned run. Erik Cordier pitched a perfect 8th, striking out all three batters he faced, and Brett Bochy closed out the game in the 9th also throwing a perfect inning.

The San Jose Giants also split the past two days with a 4-9 loss to Lancaster on Wednesday and a 5-2 win against Bakersfield on Wednesday. Mitch Delfino hit a 2 run home run in the 9th on Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough to get past a 6 run 6th inning for Lancaster. Prospect Mac Williamson went 2 for 3 in that game with an RBI and a walk.
