Baseball returns to beautiful AT&T Park this afternoon as the San Francisco Giants (5-2) take on an already familiar 2014 opponent — the Arizona Diamondbacks (2-7) — at 1:35 p.m..  Tim Hudson returns to the hill for his second start with the Giants and his first at home, while the Diamondbacks send Trevor Cahill to the mound.

Hudson (1-0, 0.00 ERA) and Cahill (0-2, 6.30) each got the start in San Francisco’s 2-0 victory at Chase Field back on April 2nd in Game 3 of the Giant’s season-opening series.

Both pitched well, but Hudson was masterful in his debut with the city by the bay.  He went 7 2/3 innings of three hit, shutout baseball with seven strikeouts and no walks.  Sergio Romo pitched a flawless 9th for his second save of the season.

Cahill lasted six innings, gave up four hits, two runs, walked three and struck out three.

And for the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks:

San Francisco’s lineup is virtually the same as the last time they faced Cahill a week ago, with the lone exception being Brandon Hicks getting the starting nod at second base instead of Ehire Adrianza.

There were only three extra-base hits in the previous matchup — a double from Mike Morse, and a two-bagger each for Paul Goldschmidt and Gerardo Parra.
