Giants Beat Reds; San Francisco Giants 3, Cincinnati Reds 2

The Giants had an important win in Scottsdale this morning beating the Reds 3-2. Pablo Sandoval homered in the 5th inning to start a three run rally that would decide the game.

Top First Inning

Tim Hudson started off the top of the first inning by walking the first batter of the game Roger Bernadina. The next batter, Ramon Santiago grounds into a double play. Then Chris Heisey lines out to shortstop Ehire Adrianza to end the inning.

Bottom First Inning

Angel Pagan led off the bottom of the first inning by grounding out to the second baseman. Hunter Pence, batting second, strikes out swinging. Brandon Belt was the first baserunner for the Giants as he took the walk to first base. However, when Buster Posey was batting, Brandon Belt was picked off and caught stealing 2nd base to end the inning.

Top Second Inning

Todd Frazier grounded out to the second baseman Brandon Hicks to start the second inning. Devin Mesoraco, second batter of the inning, singled for the first hit of the game. Donald Lutz flies out the right fielder for out number two. Then, Jason Bourgeois strikes out swinging to end the top of the second.

Bottom Second Inning

In the bottom of the second inning Buster Posey led off the inning by grounding out to the shortstop. Pablo Sandoval was the second baserunner for the Giants as he walked to first base. Then, Roger Kieschnick struck out swinging for the second out. Juan Perez grounded into a fielders choice to end the inning.

Top Third Inning

The top of the third inning started with Max Ramirez lining out softly to center field. This was followed by Argenis Diaz getting a base hit on a line drive to center field. Roger Bernadina walked to put runners on first and second with one out. Ramon Santiago struck out swinging and that was followed by Chris Heisey stuck out to end the inning and stranding the runners at first and second.

Bottom Third Inning

Brandon Hicks starts the bottom of the third inning by striking out. Ehire Adrianza walked to first base. Angel Pagan flies out to the right fielder for the second out. With Hunter Pence batting, Ehire Adrianza was picked off at 1st base to end the inning.

Top Fourth Inning

With Jeremy Affeldt pitching, he retired Todd Frazier with a ground out to third baseman, then got Devin Mesoraco to ground out to the shortstop and ended the inning with Donald Lutz grounding out to the first baseman.

Bottom Fourth Inning

Chien-Ming Wang replaced the starter Tony Cingrani and got Hunter Pence to fly out to right field, Brandon Belt grounds out softly for out number two and Buster Posey grounds out to the first baseman to end the inning.

Top Fifth Inning

Santiago Casilla came in to pitch and got Jason Bourgeois to ground out to the first baseman, Max Ramirez struck out swinging for the second out and Argenis Diaz grounds out to the second baseman to end the inning.

Bottom Fifth Inning

Pablo Sandoval started off the inning with a homer on a fly ball to right field. Roger Kieschnick reaches first base on a fielding error by the second baseman. Juan Perez followed that up with a double down the left field line that scored Kieschnick. Brandon Hicks struck out swinging. Then Ehire Adrianza singled on a line drive to right field that put runners on the corner for Angel Pagan. Pagan singled home Perez and put Adrianza in scoring position. After a coaching visit to the mound Hunter Pence struck out swinging to end the inning.

Top Sixth Inning

Sergio Romo came into pitch and the first batter, Juan Duran reaches first base on a throwing error by Chris Dominguez. This was followed by Henry Rodriguez walking to put Duran in scoring position. Bryson Smith grounds into a force out to put Duran at 3rd and Smith at 1st. Travis Mattair singled on a ground ball to the center fielder that scored Duran. Tucker Bernhart pops out to the first baseman for the second out of the inning. Romo got Yorman Rodriguez to strike out swinging to end the inning.

Bottom Sixth Inning

Buster Posey pops out to the third baseman to open the inning. Chris Dominguez strikes out swing for the second out. This was followed by another strike out Roger Kieschnick for the third out of the inning.

Top Seventh Inning

Rossmel Perez opened the inning with a pop out to shortstop Ehire Adrianza. This was followed by Neftali Soto popping out to the second baseman for the second out. Then Chris Nelson grounded out to the shortstop to end the inning.

Bottom Seventh Inning

Juan Perez started off the inning with a pop out to the catcher. Brandon Hicks doubles on a fly ball to right fielder. Then Ehire Adrianza flies out to left fielder. Gary Brown ended the inning by striking out.

Top Eighth Inning

Juan Duran grounds out to start the inning. This was followed by Henry Rodriguez grounding out to the shortstop. Bryson Smith ended the inning by striking out.

Bottom Eighth Inning

Tony Abreu started the inning off with a leadoff single to the shortstop. Mark Minicozzi pops out to the first baseman in foul territory. Guillermo Quiroz strikes out swing for the second out. Chris Dominguez walks to to put Abreu in scoring position. This was all for not as Roger Kieschnick was called out on strikes.

Top Ninth Inning

Jean Machi came into to pitch and struck out the first batter Travis Mattair. Tucker Barnhart doubles to center fielder. Then Yoman Rodriguez doubled on a line drive to right fielder that scored Barnhart. Rossmel Perez grounds out to the second baseman that moved Rodriguez to 3rd. Neftfali Soto ended the game with a line out to the shortstop.
