Hunter Pence Is An Alien In 4-3 Giants Win

Ryan Vogelsong was able to get out of a lot of jams today but Adrian Gonzalez got him in the bottom of the fifth inning by hitting a double with the bases loaded, scoring three. Vogelsong limited the damage done and pitched a clean sixth inning. The final pitching line: 6 IP, 8 H, 3 ERs with only 2 Ks.

Hunter Pence digs himself. A lot. Pence joined Willie Mays as the only Giants to hit a homerun in every game of a four-game series against the Dodgers. The most HRs hit in a series was six but Pence is now tied for second with five.

So much love right here. Stay tuned for a Pence/Belt bromance feature coming soon!

Brett Pill hit his second career pinch hit home run in the top of the eighth inning to give the Giants a 4-3 lead.

Things got a little scary in the bottom of the ninth inning when Nick Buss hit a leadoff single off Sergio Romo.  Nick Punto bunted and slid headfirst into 1B but Hector Sanchez was able to throw him out. Barely. Dee Gordon hit a single to right field, putting runners on 1B and 3B with Mark Ellis up. Ellis struck out and Gonzalez was intentionally walked.

Drama. The bases were now loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning. Sergio Romo vs. Yasiel Puig. Puig didn’t play today after fielding a catch in the OF yesterday. Pinch hitter Puig swung at the first pitch and Crawford fielded to 2B for the third out.

Giants win 4-3 and take three in the four game series against the Dodgers. The Giants are now in third place in the NL West.

Twitter goes crazy for Pence!
