Giants Get Lucky In 4-2 Win Vs. Brewers

The game tonight was magical. It just felt different than the last few games I’ve been to. Granted my last home game was a week ago Friday night vs The Cubs. But last time I was in AT&T Park was just 24 hours ago finishing my half marathon so good vibes all around.

Chad Gaudin was solid as usual. I was really impressed by his 8 strikeouts. If someone would’ve told me Gaudin would be a starting pitcher back in spring training I would’ve never believed them. Now I see him as one of our aces. The Giants better do what they can to keep him around next year.

Chad Gaudin helps lead Giants to 4-2 victory vs. Brewers on Monday night.

Tonight Marco Scutaro was our leadoff hitter and went a rare 0-5 leaving 4 men on base. Gregor Blanco was dreadful with RISP, leaving 7 men on base after getting moved from leadoff to 8th batter in the lineup.

In the bottom of the 4th, The Giants got lucky with two singles from Belt and Kieschnick, followed by a terrible throwing error by Juan Francisco that allowed Blanco to reach 1B on a ball that should’ve been a double play, scoring Brandon Belt.

The game was pretty quiet on the Brewers’ side until the top of the 7th inning, when Juan Francisco hit a ground rule double (it should’ve been a home run, he was robbed one must admit) over the fence in triples alley.  Out Gaudin and in Javier Lopez, who was able to get Rickie Weeks to ground into a double play that ended the inning. My phone blew up around that time with people saying we caught a break. I think our break was that we didn’t trade Javi so I ignored my texts.

Lopez & Posey congratulate each other on an inning-ending double play in the 7th inning Giants/Brewers.

The Giants got lucky again in the bottom of the 8th inning. Pence walked, Posey out, Belt walked. Francoeur pinch hit for Kieschnick and hit a single which scored Pence. Joaquin Arias pinch hit for Santiago Casilla and reached first on an error by Jeff Bianchi, which scored Sandoval. An exciting error-filled 8th for Giants fans.

I’m going to bed happy that the Giants won but even happier two guys the Giants were talking about trading (Pence and Lopez) are still on the team. I was happy to see the outfield bump. I haven’t seen an outfield bump at AT&T since The Giants beat the Marlins 2-1 in the 11th inning on June 22. I feel warm and fuzzy despite being in last place in the NL West. I don’t care, I love this team when they win. I love this team when I see them happy.
