The SF Giants have had many former legends in spring training camp this year. Two more legends can be added to that list with reliever Jeremy Affeldt and third baseman Pablo Sandoval both showing up as guest instructors recently.

Of course, Sandoval is the big name in camp because he is such a beloved figure amongst Giants fans for his play and his lovable personality. He also is in camp with Justin Verlander which is ironic because the two will forever be tied at the hip thanks to Sandoval's two home runs against Verlander in Game 1 of the 2012 World Series.

Sandoval took the high road when asked if he would bring up his home runs to Verlander and also said that he would be playing independent ball this summer. It is clear his love for the game has not dimmed at all even at the age of 38.

Affeldt was another key member from the championship years. Both he and Sandoval were one of the few players who were on all three championship teams. The left-handed pitcher said recently that the vibes in camp have been very good which he credits president of baseball operations Buster Posey for.

Posey certainly has done a great job of ensuring that former Giants legends have been a key part of camp and helping out the younger guys. J.T. Snow was in camp helping top prospect Bryce Eldridge at first base, Yusmeiro Petit has been in camp helping Camilo Doval, and Joe Panik has been in camp helping Tyler Fitzgerald at second base.

It is great to see all of these familiar faces helping out the team. It does speak to the culture Posey has fostered that so many former Giants have come back to help out and pass on their wisdom to the younger players on the Giants.

Posey obviously has a special relationship with both Sandoval and Affeldt because they were all teammates together on the championship teams in 2010, 2012, and 2014 so they will always have that special relationship.

Perhaps they can all help the Giants create new memories for a new generation of fans and return the franchise to the glory days that they were such a key part of.
