Player of the Day:  Mark Minicozzi gets the nod today after hitting the game winning homerun for the Richmond Flying Squirrels in the bottom of the 8th.  Richmond trailed the entire game until Minicozzi’s 3 run blast put them ahead for good.  The entire Augusta team could have received the mention here for their 15 hit, 14 run performance, but that game was a laugher.  In other news from around the minors – Pat Young of the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes has gone 24.1 innings in his professional career and has yet to give up an earned run.  Kyle Crick should get the start for San Jose on Friday after being held out yesterday with back stiffness.

Recap: (L 1-0) Omaha right fielder Anthony Seratelli hit a solo HR in the 1st inning, and that was all the scoring that was seen in this game.  Fresno starter Yusmeiro Petit went 8 innings, allowing only 4 hits, striking out 6 and walking   none.  But Omaha’s pitching staff got the better of the Grizzlies on this day with 3 pitchers combining to shut them out.

At the Plate:

Francisco Peguero 2-4

Chris Dominguez 3-4, 2B

On the Mound:
